The symbols of Japanese New Year (pine-bamboo-plum) have been the logo for Koda Farms Sweet Rice since 1948. We have borrowed their vintage logo to replicate the kind of mottainai item that could be found in any Japanese American home when rice bags were made of cloth, not paper. It was common to repurpose (and not waste!) the cloth bags into any number of useful household items. On the reverse side is the reminder to Mottainai (don’t waste!)
