Becoming an art object in itself, this publication creatively re-assembles the exhibitionAyumi Goto and Peter Morin: how do you carry the land?. Photographs of artworks and performance documentation are juxtaposed in new arrangements so that the reader encounters Goto and Morins work with a fresh perspective from which new meanings can arise. Photographs sit alongside poetic texts by Juliane Okot Bitek and features the work of artists commissioned to make new works for the exhibition, including Haida carver Corey Bulpitt, Semiamhoo experimental weaver Roxanne Charles, Japanese Canadian installation artist Haruko Okano, and filmmaker Navarana Igloliorte. Senior Curatorial Fellow of Indigenous Art and the exhibitions curator, Tarah Hogues essay delves into Goto and Morins collaborative performance art methodology, contributing to an expansion of the discourse of performance art in consideration of the cultural knowledge both artists bring to their work.

Designed bySbastien Aubin, an award winning Indigenous designer from theOpaskwayak Cree Nation in Manitoba, who was the University of Manitobas first Indigenous Designer in Residence.
